Most of the guidelines don’t encompass very young children and older adults. Wondering if anyone here has recommendations for our diabuddies over 65 with T1D who want to remain physically active, or increase activity? What’s one piece of advice you might share with someone older who is trying to manage diabetes while working out?
LaurenF I’M not in that range …yet. I find living with diabetes a ‘test’. Try a small amount and then increase slowly want to start exercising…walk a little, then a little more, then more, etc. If you have a CGM look at your results as you need to.**WARNING looking at 1 day and then seeing a crash is not causation…try looking over several days …MAYBE you can get to correlation.
As a diabetic there isn’t ANYTHING I won’t try…you just have to keep in mind that going slow a conservative approach, but you only have 1 body.
Honestly one way to test is when you have a high <200 just try walking for 10 minutes indoors/outdoors wherever…then look at the next hour or two and see what happens…I have found that ANY exercise lowers BSG to some degree or another.

Great question! I’d say start slow and focus on consistency over intensity. Low impact activities like walking, swimming, or yoga can be great options. Always check blood sugar before and after exercise staying safe is key!
