Kia ora (Hello) - My name is Tama Easton & I’m the Community Manager for DiabetesWISER for the initial launch.
My 13yo son developed Type 1 Diabetes when he was 3yo. This was one hell of a rollercoaster ride, but going to a Tandem t:slim + Dexcom has really helped us. My son is very active so you’ll be seeing some questions from me about exercise/ outdoor adventures & diabetes!
I have worked on DiabetesWise since 2017, leading the team that develops the apps & software like:

As the Community Manager, I’ll be keeping an eye on discussions, helping to foster a supportive environment, & ensuring that our community guidelines are followed. I’m here to help facilitate meaningful conversations, answer questions about how the community works, & make sure everyone feels welcome.
I have 14 years of experience in online community management - mostly for cycling-focused online communities.
A few things about me:
- I live in Nelson, New Zealand - a picturesque seaside town popular with lifestyle relocators.
- I have had an inflammatory autoimmune condition - ankylosing spondylitis - for 15 years.
- I’m a passionate/ obsessive mountain biker.
- I’ve gone on a bike ride every day for the past 2,418 days - except for that one day I forgot.
